WM 19 charged with burglary after entering two homes in S. Amarillo...

On 9-25-14, officers investigated a home burglary in the 4800 block of Cape Colony.  In that incident, the resident came home in the afternoon and found that someone had pulled off a window screen on the rear of the home and opened an unlocked window to gain entry.  An Ipad and other items were reported missing from the home.  On 10-2-14, investigators found that a man had sold the stolen Ipad at a local pawn shop.  That same day, officers investigated a burglary that happened shortly after noon at a home in the 4500 block of Shawnee.  In that incident, a woman heard someone knock on her front door.  When she looked out of the peep hole, she saw a man walking away from the front of the home.  She did not recognize him and did not answer the door.  A short time later, the woman was showering when she heard the sound of glass breaking and realized that someone was in her home.  She secured the bathroom door and called 911.  The intruder attempted to enter the bathroom, but the woman blocked the door.  The intruder then left the home through the back door.  Officers that responded to this incident found that the suspect had removed a kitchen window screen and entered through a window.  Detectives interviewed and obtained fingerprints from the man that had sold the Ipad stolen in September.  He said he had purchased the item from someone.  Additional investigation enabled them to link the same suspect to both incidents and to identify his fingerprints left at both scenes.   On 10-24-14, the detective signed a two count complaint for burglary of a habitation accepted by the Randall County District Attorney’s Office under complaint #25505.  A warrant was issued charging Brandon Shaie Williams WM 19 with the burglary at both homes.  On 10-27-14, Williams turned himself in at the Randall County Sheriff’s office.  The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he was booked into jail and then released on bond.
