Hit-and-Run driver surrenders to police
Sean Jamal Blackmon, the suspected driver of a hit-and–run fatality on Oct. 15, surrendered to police on Monday morning.
Blackmon, 28, of Jackson, is charged with reckless homicide, leaving the scene, failure to stop and render aid, and simple possession of marijuana. He will be arraigned Tuesday in City Court.
The crash occurred in the area of Lindsey and Lexington. Marcus Jones, who died as a result of the crash, was traveling west on Lexington. He was struck in the driver’s door by a vehicle traveling north on Lindsey that failed to stop at the stop sign. Following the crash, the other driver fled the scene on foot.
Officers investigating the crash identified Blackmon as the driver and secured a warrant for his arrest.
