Green Bay Police respond to shooting incident.
On 10-26-14 at 2:01pm, officers of the Green Bay Police Department responded to a call of "shots fired" in the 800 block of Ninth Street on the city's near west side. Citizens calling reported a male was shooting a rifle and had possibly shot a dog. A description of the suspect was provided and responding officers quickly located and detained the suspect.
The suspect reportedly had encountered an aggressive dog that was loose in the area while he, and other neighbors, were outside doing yard work. The suspect armed himself with an "AR15" style rifle and fired numerous rounds at the loose dog. The dog was not struck, however, several rounds appeared to ricochet off the street into the surrounding neighborhood.
The dog was captured by Green Bay Police Animal Control and is currently being housed at a local veterinarian clinic. The suspect, a 33 year old male from Green Bay, is in police custody and is being interviewed. The gun used in the shooting was recovered by police. No charges have been filed, however, the investigation is ongoing and charges are expected.
