Newburgh Man Arrested after Attempting to Elude Trooper
Warrick – Early Saturday morning, October 25, at approximately 12:32, Trooper Josh Greer was patrolling SR 66 west of Epworth Road when he spotted a white Chevrolet Camaro traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. Trooper Greer clocked the vehicle by radar at 102 mph in a 50 mph zone. Greer immediately activated his emergency lights and siren, but the driver continued east at a high rate of speed and then turned south onto Grimm Road. The driver then slowed down, pulled into the Islamic Mosque located at 4200 Grimm Road and surrendered without further incident. The driver was identified as Derrick Lee Mays, 19, of Newburgh. Mays was arrested and taken to the Warrick County Jail where he later posted bond and was released.
