Arrest of Residential Burglary Suspect in Belle Haven Neighborhood

The Menlo Park Police Department responded to an interrupted residential burglary. While Officers were responding to the scene, the suspect and victim became involved in a physical altercation, during which the victim sustained minor injuries. The first MPPD Officer arrived on scene within 2 minutes of the initial call, and observed the suspect fleeing the area on foot. A perimeter was quickly set up; with the assistance of the E. Palo Alto Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. A search of the area within the perimeter was conducted and the suspect was ultimately located and taken into custody without incident. The suspect arrested name is Manuel Hernandez, DOB: 05/16/95, out of Menlo Park. This investigation may be related to additional residential burglaries in the Belle Haven Neighborhood, and is on-going.

The Menlo Park Police Department will continue to take pro-active steps in ensuring the safety of our residents and ask that any suspicious activity be immediately reported to our dispatch center. The Menlo Park Police Department is also asking anyone who might have additional information regarding this incident and/or who witnessed this incident, to contact the investigating officer at (650) 330-6300
