October 5th victim of an assault dies. Special Crimes now investigating case as a homicide.

At 6:40 AM on October 5, 2014, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of NW 12th on a disturbance. Once they arrived several people were seen in the street at 1910 NW 12th. As the officers spoke to the people in the street, they found a man unconscious in a vehicle. It appeared he was the victim of an assault. The victim was unresponsive and an ambulance was called to transport him to a local hospital. Members of the Detective Division began the investigation and an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect in this assault. On October 17, 2014, Blake Remington Welch, age 24 was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Potter County Correction Center.
On October 23, 2014 the Special Crimes Unit received information the victim of this assault died. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones. The preliminary result of the autopsy was the victim died from complications of blunt force trauma to the upper body. This case is now classified as a homicide. The victim is Clinton Norton, Jr., age 40.
