Valencia, Zone 5, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information. Snapshot for the week of 10/13/2014 to 10/19/2014.

Last week, the following Part 1 crimes occurred in Zone 5 (Valencia)

A spousal assault occurred near the 24900 block of Avenida Balita.   The victim was involved in a verbal argument with her live in boyfriend.   The argument escalated and the suspect threw water on the victim and put a lit cigarette out on her cheek.  The victim sustained injuries to her face, but was not transported to the hospital.

A robbery occurred near the 24300 block of Valencia Boulevard.  The victim was approached by a male Hispanic adult who asked him what time it was.  The victim pulled out his cell phone to inform the suspect of the time.   As the victim was doing this the suspect grabbed the victim’s phone and told the victim “you just got jacked”.  The suspect fled the area on foot and out of sight.

A theft occurred near the 28500 block of Westinghouse Place.  The victims were staying in a local hotel when they left their room for a short time.  When they returned back to their room they noticed their hotel room door was slightly ajar.  As they entered their room they noticed numerous items missing from their drawers.  Numerous high dollar personal jewelry items were missing from their room.   No one from the hotel entered their room according to the staff.

An attempted burglary occurred near the 24000 block of Oak Vale Drive.  An unknown male black adult tried to gain access into the residence.  The suspect tried to slide a credit card up and down near the locking mechanism in an attempt to gain entry into the location.  Responding deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

This past week we had six incidents of shoplifting occur at local stores.  Out of the six incidents, five suspects were arrested by patrol deputies and booked at the Santa Clarita Station.  Our detective bureau is currently investigating each one of these cases.

As Halloween approaches please keep this safety tips in mind as you are out and about this Halloween.
