Pedestrian Killed in Vehicle Accident
The Jackson Police Department is investigating a one-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian early this morning.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of North Royal Street. Jonathon Evans of Finger was driving a 2001 Ford pickup south on Royal when a pedestrian crossed into his lane of travel. This was confirmed by an eye witness.
The pedestrian, identified as Danny Peterson, 58, of Jackson, died at the scene. Evans was not injured.
The preliminary investigation has not identified any fault on the part of the driver. This incident is still under investigation.
