Suspect Apprehended After Chase

Vermillion County—This afternoon at 12:53, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Hennis was southbound on North Main Street north of Clinton, when he clocked a northbound maroon 1998 Mitsubishi traveling at 68-miles-per-hour in a 40mph zone. As Hennis attempted to stop the vehicle, the Mitsubishi accelerated to 106mph. The suspect then turned north onto State Road 63 and in doing so, lost control and spun facing southbound in the northbound lanes. The suspect vehicle then traveled southbound in the northbound lanes of SR 63 and collided with Deputy Hennis. The vehicle continued southbound on North Main Street at 106mph with Hennis in pursuit. The suspect turned west on Oak Street from 3rd Street, traveled through a driveway, over a hill and struck a tree. The driver fled on foot with two adult females remaining in the vehicle.

Minutes later, ISP Trooper Ted Robertson spotted the suspect enter the back door of a residence at 434 North Street in Clinton. The house was surrounded by additional officers from multiple agencies. Indiana State Police K-9 Handler Trooper Mike Finney and “Boomer” entered the residence and quickly located the suspect hiding in a closet near the kitchen at 1:11pm. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Vermillion County Jail.

Arrested: Kenny Dale Sanquenetti Jr., age 30, of Clinton, IN.
Preliminary Charges: Resisting Law Enforcement (felony); Residential Entry (felony) and numerous
traffic violations.

During the foot pursuit of the Sanquenetti, Clinton Police Officer Brandon Mahady fell injuring his shoulder. He sought medical treatment at Union Hospital of Clinton. The two females were not arrested.

The crash investigation is being conducted by Trooper Tim Rader.

Assisting were multiple troopers from the Putnamville Post, Vermillion County Sheriff Bob Spence and deputies, Clinton Police Chief Perry Hollowell and officers, and Parke County Sheriff’s deputies.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
