Dearborn Police remind residents to secure their homes and property. Keep doors & windows locked, use outdoor lights.

As we enter into autumn and fewer hours of daylight, residents are reminded that the criminal element prefers darkness and easy opportunity.  Break the Crime Triangle (Ability, Desire, and Opportunity) by following the below suggestions:

- Turn your porch light on and use other outdoor lights.

- Keep all windows locked

- Keep all doors locked

- Use deadbolt locks on exterior doors

- Never leave valuables in plain sight

- Keep your bushes and lawn neatly trimmed

- Use light timers for interior lights while you are out

-  Keep your garage door closed and locked

-  Keep all personal property secured, such as bicycles.

- Get to know your neighbors

- Trust your instincts.  If it seems suspicious, report it to police

Report any unusual or suspicious circumstance to the Suspicious Activity Hotline @ 313.943.3030.  Callers speak directly to a police dispatcher and may remain anonymous.
