Trafficking Arrests

(Etowah County, Alabama) Two individuals have been arrested and charged with trafficking a large quantity of methamphetamine, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Edger Jesus Cervantes, 24, and Zanda Lee Gonzalez, 22, both of Attalla, are each charged with one count of drug trafficking.

Etowah County Drug Task Force agents, along with an agent from the Marshall County Drug Task Force and Boaz PD investigators, executed a search warrant, October 14, 2014, at a residence on Bryant Drive, Attalla, and found approximately 4 pounds of meth, along with one handgun.

The drug has a street value in excess of $150,000.

The investigation began when a Boaz police officer arrested Cervantes and Gonzalez during a routine traffic stop. The officer found approximately one ounce of meth in their possession at that time.

Agencies involved in the investigation include the Etowah County Drug Task Force, Boaz Police Department and Marshall County Drug Task Force.

Cervantes and Gonzalez are both currently being detained in the Marshall County Detention Center. Each will have a $250,000 cash bond.
