INCIDENT: Shoplifting Crime Spree Comes to an End
DATE: October 22, 2014
SUSPECT: Christopher T. Higgins, 31 years old, of Marietta
John D. Stiltz, 31 years old, of Marietta
CHARGES: Multiple Shoplifting and Theft by Deception charges. More charges are pending against both suspects.
Working closely with store security staffs of both Walmart and Target stores, Marietta Police Detectives have arrested two suspects engaged in an organized shoplifting ring. The investigation is expanding and further charges are pending.
On October 15, 2014 Marietta Officers responded to the Walmart located at 1785 Cobb Parkway for a report of a shoplifting incident involving two white males occupying a green Volkswagen Jetta. Through the course of the investigation it was discovered that the pair of shoplifters were responsible for multiple shoplifting incidents spanning from October 11th through October 15th at both the Walmart and Target stores on Cobb Parkway and then pawning the stolen items at local pawn shops.
Marietta Officers located and arrested John Stiltz on October 15th while he was operating the Volkswagen Jetta. Christopher Higgins was arrested on October 21st while inside the Target store on Cobb Parkway. The investigation is still on going and additional charges are pending against both suspects.
