Anderson Man Stabbed During Altercation

On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at approximately 9:12 PM officers with the Anderson Police Department were dispatched to the 2500 block of Highway 273 for a report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival on scene officers made contact with the victim, a sixty-one year old Anderson resident, who had sustained an apparent stab wound to the back of the head. The victim reported he had attempted to break up an altercation between the suspect and his grandson. The victim stated he had chased the suspect out of the apartment complex and was returning to his residence, when the suspect came up from behind and stabbed him in the back of the head. The suspect reportedly fled the location towards South St.

A witness contacted the Anderson Police Department and reported that Marc McClendon, age 29, of Anderson, had borrowed his cell phone. The witness stated McClendon had called his mother asking for help, stating he had just stabbed someone. McClendon then fled the location westbound on South St.

An Anderson Police Department K-9 team was deployed, along with members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter, in an attempt to locate McClendon. After a thorough search McClendon was not located.

McClendon is described as a white male adult, approximately 6’01”, 168 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. McClendon was last seen running westbound on South St. wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, and carrying a skateboard.

At this time the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
