SUMMARY: On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 3:50 PM, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Victorville Station, responded to a suspicious circimstances call at the Mall of Victor Valley near Barnes & Nobles. Security with Barnes & Nobles were out with a male juvenile who had been sprayed with bear pepper spray. It was determined the victim, a 17 year old male runaway from Cedar City Utah, had been accidentally sprayed with pepper spray by his friends, also determined to be runaways from Utah and driving a stolen vehicle with two stolen guns inside.
The suspected runaways fled the area in a silver Nissan, and after an extensive search by ground and air, were not located. An alert was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies for officer safety concerns.
At 9:40 PM, a call was received from Wal-Mart on Palmdale Rd x Hwy 395 of subjects attempting to siphone gas from a vehicle. Upon contact, deputies located the stolen Nissan and arrested Reagan Gurbal and the 16 year old female runaway. The subjects advised the last two runaways walked across the street and possibly took the weapons with them. Stater Bros was contacted and evacuated as a precaution, however the suspects were not located in Stater Bros, but were located inside the nearby Del Taco Restaurant.
The weapons were located inside of the Nissan and all four subjects were arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle and possession of the stolen firearms. It was also determined a sixth juvenile had been located on Monday in Apple Valley and returned to his parents. It was also determined the suspects had stolen a license plate from the victim in Las Vegas and placed that license plate on the stolen vehicle to conceal the stolen status.
Gurbal was booked at the High Desert Detention Center and is awaiting his arrangnment for the charges, in lieu of $25,000.00 bail. The juveniles were booked at Juvenile Hall for Possession of Stolen Property.
