The Fremont Police Department has issued a special event permit to the Gurdwara Sahib (300 Gurdwara Rd.) for the Diwali Festival of Lights event scheduled to take place on Thursday evening, October 23, 2014.
The permit requires Gurdwara Sahib Event organizers to notify all neighbors who may be affected by the higher than normal traffic related to the event. As a courtesy to the neighborhood, we are also using Nixle as a secondary notification to those who will potentially be impacted by event traffic tomorrow evening. The permit allows the Diwali event to take place between 4:00 p.m. –12:00 a.m. at the Gurdwara, however outdoor noise and activity must be reduced and lowered by 10:00 p.m. At no time are fireworks of any kind permitted.
To assist with traffic flow, the Fremont Police Department has requested that Gurdwara Rd. be closed in the eastbound direction between Grau Dr. and Mission Blvd between 4:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Grau Dr. will also be closed in the northbound direction at Galway Terrace. Residents who live south of Gurdwara Rd. are encouraged to use Grau Dr. from Mission Blvd. to enter and exit the neighborhood. Event attendees and residents will be required to use the southbound lanes of Grau Dr. to exit the neighborhood at Mission Blvd. Gurdwara Sahib staff will be on-site to direct traffic in and Fremont Police Department staff members will be on-site to enforce traffic and parking violations.
