Anderson – Today Troopers and Motor Carrier Inspectors from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division of the Indiana State Police did a spot inspection of buses operated in Madison County by the Weber Transportation Company. The inspections were the result of speculation of non- compliance with the Indiana State Police School Bus Safety Manual regarding Brake and King Inspections not being done correctly.

As a result of the spot inspection, 29 of the 30 buses operated by Weber Transportation were placed out of service. Most were for Brake and King Violations as well as other additional safety critical violations. The Indiana State Police remains committed to ensuring the safety of the students that are transported via a school bus. We have 20 Troopers assigned statewide whose primary responsibility is to conduct the state law mandated annual inspections on over 16,000 school buses, and semi- annual inspections on over 2,600 buses that are 12 years old or older. We can also conduct spot inspections without prior notification to ensure compliance with the minimum standards set forth in State law.
