APD arrest Amarillo man on Burglary charges after incident on Monday afternoon.

On Monday October 20th at 1:11pm, APD officers were sent to the 3600 block of NE 9th reference a possible burglary in progress. A nearby neighbor had seen someone in a vacant house that is currently being remodeled. The caller gave dispatchers a description of the suspect and advised that the suspect had left the house and was in a nearby alley pushing a shopping cart. Officers arrived in the area and located an H/M matching the description given by the witness. When the suspect saw officers, he immediately took off running. Officers pursued him and finally caught him in the 3800 block of NE 11th. It is believed that the suspect had actually broken in to two different residences in this same area. The suspect is identified as Christopher Michael Hernandez H/M 19. Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Potter County Correction Center on charges of Burglary of a Habitation and Evading Arrest/Detention. Additional Burglary charges are pending.
