CRIME ALERT – Residential Burglaries in RD54

  • 5100 BLOCK OF RESIDENCIA (14-8483)

Occurred between: 10/18/2014 at 11:00 p.m. and 10/19/2014 at 8:30 a.m.

An unknown suspect entered the victim’s apartment through an open living room window after removing the screen.  Once inside, the suspect removed the listed items and fled.  The victim was asleep during the burglary and didn’t discover the crime until he awoke in the morning and found the screen on the ground and the listed items missing.  The victim did hear a noise around 3:15 a.m. coming from the living room, but disregarded it as the wind.

Loss: Laptop computer and charger.

Suspect information:  None.

 

  •  6100 BLOCK OF RESIDENCIA (14-8476)

Occurred on: 10/19/2014 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:20 a.m.

An unknown suspect entered the victim’s apartment through an open living room window after removing the screen.  Once inside, the suspect removed the listed items and fled.  During the burglary the victim was in another room when he heard someone in the living room, and assumed it was another family member.  When the victim entered the living room he discovered the window screen had been removed and the listed items were missing.

Loss: Laptop computer and charger.

Suspect information:  None.

 

Home Security Tips

·   Always lock your windows and doors when you go out, even if for only a few minutes.

o   If you return home and find your pedestrian door that leads into your home locked, and you are certain that you left it unlocked, DO NOT GO INSIDE!  Call the police immediately at 9-1-1.  Burglars often lock this door to slow down a victim, allowing the burglar extra time to get out of the home before the resident enters.

·   If your home is equipped with an alarm, always activate it even if you’re only going out for a short walk.

·   Always keep your front and rear porch lights on from dusk to dawn and use motion detector lighting along the sides of your home or areas with little foot traffic.

·   When you leave on vacation remember to call the Police Department for a “Vacation Check” (949) 644-3717 or sign up on line at www.nbpd.org.  Also, ask a trusted friend or neighbor to pick up your paper and mail while you are away.
