Law Enforcement Officers and Red Robin Restaurants Collect Over $2,100.00 during Special Olympics Tip-A-Cop Day

Merrillville – This past weekend, law enforcement officers and Special Olympics Indiana teamed up with ten Red Robin restaurants to benefit more than 11,000 Hoosier athletes with intellectual disabilities. Tip-A-Cop took place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturday October 18, 2014
Law enforcement officers traded badges for aprons as they collected tip donations at Red Robin locations. All donations go directly to Special Olympics Indiana. A special guest appearance by Trooper Teddy, the Indiana State Police Mascot, was an especially big hit with the visiting restaurant patrons when he made himself available for photos.

As an LETR signature fundraising event, Tip-A-Cop invited the public to attend one of the selected Red Robin locations, without the need of a promotional flyer, and chose from the full menu. Customers are encouraged to donate gratuities, a “Special tip”, to law enforcement “celebrity waiters;” in doing so they will help to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Indiana and the services the organization provides to adults and children with intellectual disabilities. Throughout its history, the Tip-A-Cop fundraising event, with various restaurant partners, has generated over $2.5 million for Special Olympics.

Indiana State troopers from the Lowell District participated in the Tip-A–Cop campaign at the following location:
2465 Southlake Mall, Merrillville

Troopers working this location collected over $2,100.00. All donated money will be utilized for Special Olympic activities and athletes in Indiana.
The Indiana State Police, local law enforcement, and Indiana Special Olympics’ Indiana would like to thank all those who participated and donated time to this very worthwhile cause.
