GHSO has awarded JPD $100,000 for the ACT program this fiscal year. An increase from $40,000 for previous years.

Press Release
Date: 20 October 2014
From: Lt. Ronald Adams, Traffic Safety Coordinator
RE: Alcohol Countermeasures Team

The Jackson Police Department and the Tennessee Governors’ Highway Safety Office will continue their partnership in working toward their common goal of saving lives and making the roadways as safe as possible. During the past few years the GHSO has awarded JPD around $40,000 per year in funding to pay officers to conduct increased anti-alcohol enforcement. This federal fiscal year the Jackson Police Department was awarded nearly $100,000 to conduct these efforts.

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of the citizens of Jackson, the Jackson Police Department’s Alcohol Countermeasures Team will be performing Sobriety Checkpoints and increased DUI enforcement throughout the city this weekend.
There will be a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday 25 October 2014 from 2330 until 0115 on North Parkway @ F.E. Wright Drive and one on Sunday 26 October 2014 from 0145 until 0345 on 45 By-Pass at Ashport Rd.

During these increased enforcement activities officers will concentrate their efforts on removing impaired drivers from the roadways before they can cause any unnecessary injuries or deaths.
Motorists are reminded that as non-compliance with the safety belt and child restraint laws place people in danger, these laws will be vigorously enforced as well.

This project funded solely by the Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office.
