Eariler reported kidnapping was a false report...APD continuing investigation.

Today at about 8:15 AM, the APD responded to a reported abduction at an apartment complex in S. Amarillo.  A WF 24 texted her boyfriend to tell him that she had been kidnapped at gunpoint from a common area of the apartment complex. He notified the police.  Shortly after 9:00 AM, the Potter County Sheriff's Office responded to an address in the 7000 block of Navajo Road on a report that a female with her hands tied came to the front door of a home and requested help.  She was the woman that had texted her report of being kidnapped.  APD investigators and deputies responded and spoke to the complainant.  The woman's initial report was that a HM wearing a camouflage green jacket and armed with a handgun had forced her to get into her car on the apartment parking lot and drive him out to rural Potter County.  There, a second man was parked in the road, apparently waiting on him.  The second HM was in a small, maroon truck.  The two men were both out of the vehicles talking.  One tied her hands.  She reported she was able to escape and run into the brush.  Investigators noticed inconsistencies in her account of what had happened.  After some conversation, the woman admitted that she had not been kidnapped and she was not the victim of any criminal activity.  Detectives are continuing to investigate to establish why the woman reported the criminal incident.
