OSBI Investigates Swminole Police-Involved Shooting
Saturday evening the Seminole Police Department Chief requested OSBI agents investigate an officer-involved shooting. The incident began with a call at approximately 8:30 p.m. for officers to respond to a domestic disturbance reference a man with a knife at 1711 Grisso Street. Several officers responded to the call. When they arrived at the scene, they found the man with the knife in the breezeway of the apartment. Officers gave the man multiple commands to drop the knife. The man refused to comply. Officers deployed a taser to incapacitate the man. The man continued to advance toward the officers with a knife. One officer then fired his weapon at the man striking him in the leg. Dwan Rich (d.o.b. 10-2-1971), of Seminole, was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital for treatment. He faces numerous charges including assault and battery with a deadly weapon. OSBI spent Saturday night and Sunday gathering information on the shooting. The district attorney will determine whether the shooting was justified.
