Pomona Police Officers Dish Out Meals to Support Special Olympics

On Thursday evening, Pomona Police Officers dished out meals in its annual Tip-A-Cop fundraising campaign to support the Pomona Valley Special Olympics. Officers traded in their squad cars and cite books and spent the night delivering dinners, refilling sodas and bussing tables.

People out for dinner got a chance to interact with police officers under quite a different setting. Officers explained that all "tips" were helping fund year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults affected by disabilities in the Pomona Valley.

The Pomona Police Department has a long and rich history with Special Olympics. Besides Tip-A-Cop, Pomona Police officers participate in the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run. This relay travels through 175 communities, covering over 1,500 miles.

These events allow police officers to interact and reach out to our community in creative, enjoyable and purposeful ways. Tonight's event raised over $3,000. Thank you to everyone who came out!
