Sonoma County Sheriff's Office is Investigating a Home Invasion Robbery with the Victim Shot by the Suspects
On 10/16/14 at approximately 2:27 pm, a man called 911 stating that a man had been shot while inside a house in the 1000 block of Merced Avenue, in southwest Santa Rosa.
Deputies and paramedics were immediately dispatched, arriving within five minutes.
Witnesses reported seeing two subjects running from the house after the shots were heard. They left in a light blue or grey SUV, possibly a Nissan. They were dressed in some type of clothing displaying FBI. Later some items were found in a nearby ditch that supported the description of police-type dress.
The Wright Charter Elementary School was temporarily locked down while the participating law enforcement agencies looked for the suspects.
The injured man was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office responded and are actively investing the crime. It was not immediately clear what, if anything was stolen. The Detectives are considering the possibility that this was a home invasion robbery wherein the suspects were intending to steal marijuana.
The suspects were both described as Hispanic male adults. They were armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The suspects and vehicle are still outstanding. They are considered armed and dangerous.
