The following crimes were reported in Zone 2, Castaic/Val Verde.
There was a residential burglary reported from the 28000 block of Chiquito Canyon. The homeowner was gone for two months and found several items of furniture and appliances missing upon his return. Among the stolen items was a Glock 9mm handgun with two 14 round magazines.
A vehicle burglary was reported from the 31000 block of Countryside Drive. The victim found their vehicle window off the frame, and the stereo missing, when they went out to leave for work.
A vehicle burglary was reported from the 30000 block of San Martinez. The victim heard her car alarm go off. When they went out front to check the suspect ran into an adjacent wash. The suspect was described as male, possibly Hispanic approximately 5’6 and 145 pounds. The suspect was not able to get into the vehicle.
A theft was reported from the 29000 block of Central Avenue. Approximately $1,200 worth of metal piping was taken from the victim’s property.
A theft was reported from the 29000 block of Verdale Avenue. The victim ordered a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone from Walmart. The package was delivered to her doorstep but the phone was not in the box when she opened it.
A theft was reported from the 31000 block of Castaic Road. The victim left her silver I-phone 5 on a shelf while shopping. When she realized it and returned to the aisle the phone was missing.
A theft was reported from San Martinez Road. The victim paid her ex-boyfriend $400 to rent a room. Later the same day the victim was served a restraining order from the ex-boyfriend. The victim called several times to retrieve her money but the ex-boyfriend never answered.
Please remember to close and lock your doors, and never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle. Minimize your risk and avoid being the victim of a crime of opportunity.
