Two charged with breaking into storage building and stealing more than $1,000 worth of goods

Detective J.T. Grindstaff of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 27-year-old Toni Lesha Farmer, of U.S. 70 West in Marion, and 29-year-old Derrick Levi Walker, of Lake Tahoma Road in Marion, with one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and obtaining property by false pretense.
On Oct. 5, Loretta Poteat, of Marion, reported that someone broke into a building she was renting at Economy Mini Storage, on U.S. 70 West, and stole a heater, 50 DVDs and video games, two walkie talkies, two video game systems and a tackle box with fishing gear. The value of the items was estimated at $1,019.
Grindstaff said the suspects were caught on video. Most of the property has been recovered.
