INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Cypress Avenue & Lindero Street

INVOLVED PARTY #1: Jon Cox, 50, Victorville

INVOLVED PARTY #2: 52-Year-Old Female of Victorville (Name Being Witheld)


SUMMARY:

On October 12, 2014, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Victorville Deputies were dispatched to a report of an unknown-injury traffic collision that had occurred in the area of Cypress Avenue and Lindero Street in the City of Victorville.

Through investigation it was discovered Vehicle #1 was traveling westbound on Lindero Street towards Cypress Avenue. Vehicle #2 was traveling southbound on Cypress Avenue towards Lindero Street. Vehicle #1 was involved in a broadside traffic collision with Vehicle #2. The impact caused Vehicle #2 to roll.

The driver of Vehicle #2 sustained serious injuries as a result of the traffic collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of Vehicle #1 was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Three passengers of Vehicle #2 were air lifted to trauma centers and one passenger of Vehicle #2 was taken to a local hospital. Three of the passengers were juveniles.

Deputies are still investigating whether speed or alcohol played a factor in this collision.
