Monday Night Update: Missing Person At Risk - Sally Estabrook

A reported sighting of 75-year-old Sally Estabrook, who has been missing for more than a week, led dozens of Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers to a Scripps Ranch neighborhood. However, the search turned out to be fruitless.

The Sheriff's Department received a tip Monday afternoon (October 13th) from someone who reported seeing a woman matching Sally's description walking northbound along Semillon Boulevard at Scripps Trail. Search and Rescue volunteers were quickly called into the area.

After hours of searching, SAR volunteers located the woman who was originally spotted. However, it was not Sally Estabrook.

Sally, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was last seen on Saturday, October 4th at the Pinezanita RV Park and Campgrounds in Julian. Her husband took a shower and when he returned, Sally was gone.

Since then, hundreds of volunteers have searched the area in and around the Julian campground for any sign of Sally. The search for Sally will resume on Tuesday morning, but on a smaller scale.

Sally Estabrook stands 5'4" tall, weighs 145 pounds and has shoulder length blonde hair. She may be wearing a teal top and white capris pants.

Because Sally suffers from Alzheimer's, she isn't very communicative, but might respond to her name.

If you have seen Sally or have any information on her whereabouts, call 9-1-1 or the Sheriff's Department at (858) 565-5200.

If you have a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer's or any other form of dementia, you're encouraged to register for the Sheriff's Take Me Home program.

It is a free and confidential database only available to local law enforcement agencies. It contains photos, crucial medical information and special care instructions for people with Alzheimer's and likely to wander off or children with special needs.

It helps to know during a search if the patient is a non-verbal, doesn't want to be touched or would only respond to a certain name.
