Traffic Stop Leads to Loaded Gun 
On Sunday October 5th, 2014 a Morgan Hill Officer stopped a vehicle on Monterey Road and First Street, the passenger Carlos Souza 41, out of Watsonville was arrested for possessing of a firearm and burglary tools.
During the stop the officer spoke with the driver and immediately could smell an odor of alcohol and marijuana permeating from the vehicle. The officer said, “All three passengers were extremely nervous and seemed to evade questions.” The Morgan Hill Officer eventually located a loaded 9mm Beretta hand gun wrapped in a pair of pajama pants and burglary tools in the backseat of the vehicle. Suspect Carlos Souza told the officer the firearm and burglary tools were his. He was arrested at the scene and later transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
