Severe Weather Potential Tuesday

This afternoon and evening:

Isolated thunderstorms are possible across Northwest and West Central Georgia this afternoon and evening ahead of a approaching cold front and developing storm system.

 

Tuesday morning:

A squall line is expected to pass through the area as early as 2AM.  Timing for this event is estimated 2AM-9AM.  Hazards include damaging winds (60MPH), very heavy rain and isolated brief tornadoes.

**The morning commute to work and school may be disrupted.  Check latest conditions before you leave and allow extra time**

 

Tuesday afternoon:

Another round of storms with increased intensity is expected to develop during the afternoon hours potentially around 4PM.  This round of storms will also include damaging winds, heavy rain in addition to large hail and tornadoes. 

**The afternoon commute may also be disrupted**

Instructions:

There will be a high risk for damaging winds on Tuesday even outside of the strongest storm areas forecasts call for 20mph wind gusts or higher. This will lead to potential for downed trees leading to road hazards and power outages.

Remain weather aware during the overnight and morning hours!
