Special Crimes investigates homicide.

At around 10:35 PM on October 10, 2014, officers were dispatched to a bar at 609 S. Independence on a stabbing.  According to the caller, the suspect left the scene in a vehicle.  An ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital.  As detectives and officers investigated the stabbing the Randall County Sheriff’s Office called to report the suspect turning himself in for the stabbing.  Amarillo Police officers transported the suspect to the Detective Division of the Amarillo Police Department.  The suspect, William Chet Stewart, age 35 was booked into the Potter County Correction Center for the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against a Family Member.

At 10:52 AM on October 11, 2014, the victim, Holly Elizabeth Combs, age 24 was declared dead.  Justice of the Peace Nancy Bosquez ordered an autopsy to be performed in Lubbock at a later date.  Special Crimes investigators obtained a murder warrant for William Chet Stewart which was served while he was in custody and he remains in the Potter County Correction Center for the charge of murder.  This case is still ongoing and Special Crimes asks anyone with information about this murder to call 378-9468.
