Burglary Suspects Caught in the Act

On October 6, 2014 at approximately 10:52 p.m., Los Banos Police Officers responded to a report of two suspicious males near the Los Banos Unified School District swimming pool in the 1400 block of 7th Street.

Officers Todd Pricolo, Vanus Warren, and Richard Mancera responded to investigate and located Michael Desa, 29, and Jason Young, 41, hiding in bushes next to the front of the building. The building’s lock had been cut off. The officers believe Desa and Young were preparing to enter the building when they were interrupted by police.

Desa and Young were in possession of burglary tools in the form of bolt cutters, file tools, a hammer, crowbar and devices used to break windows.

“These types of crimes against a local school impact the whole community. Thankfully, someone had the presence of mind to call this in and the officers were able to stop these guys right as their crime started.”
- Jason Hedden, Commander

Michael Desa and Jason Young were arrested and charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. Both remain in custody at the John Latorraca Correctional Facility in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.

Anyone with information on this case or others is urged to contact Sergeant Ivan Mendez at (209) 827-7070, extension 114.
