CORRECTION: Suspect Charged in Fatality Accident - 15300 Clay Rd

Liobardo Reyes has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault on a Public Servant in connection to this morning's head on collision with an HCSO deputy in the 15300 block of Clay Rd. in west Harris County.

Reyes, 24, was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion with an unidentified female as the front right passenger. He was driving in the wrong direction (westbound in the eastbound lanes). HCSO Deputy D. Johnson was driving his patrol unit eastbound when he was struck by Reyes.

The female passenger in the Ford Fusion was killed. Both, Dep. Johnson and Mr. Reyes, were seriously injured and taken to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute via Life Flight where they remain.

Dep. Johnson is a 13-year veteran of the HCSO. He is assigned to patrol.

UPDATE: The Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in a vehicle collision on Friday, is reportedly alert and responsive while undergoing treatment at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The suspect driver was transported via LifeFlight to the same hospital and is currently being treated following the collision.

The female passenger of the vehicle was pronounced deceased upon arrival of emergency personnel.

HARRIS COUNTY, TX - Just before 3:00 AM, on Friday, October 10, 2014, a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a collision on Highway 6 and Clay Road.

As the deputy was traveling eastbound in a marked patrol unit, a hispanic male driver and female passenger in a Ford Fusion struck the front left driver’s side of the deputy’s vehicle. The suspect driver was reportedly driving westbound in the wrong direction of the eastbound lanes.

The deputy was transported via LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The female passenger of the vehicle was pronounced deceased upon arrival of emergency personnel.
