ARREST MADE:
SUSPECT: Carlos Smith, 22-year-old, Long Beach Resident
The Pomona Police Department is pleased to announce an arrest of a second suspect for attempted murder, from the shooting incident that occurred in September, 26 2014.
Pomona Homicide Detectives worked throughout the night of the shooting and were able to arrest the first suspect, Shatera Simpson, at a hotel in Riverside during the early morning hours of 9/27/2014.
As this investigation progressed, the investigating detectives were able to obtain a warrant for Smith who was outstanding.
On 10/7/2014, investigators located suspect Smith at a hotel in Brea where he was taken into custody without incident. Both suspects are now awaiting court proceedings for robbery and attempted murder.

On today's date, officers responded to the 200 block of W. Willow regarding a possible victim of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located the male adult victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was treated at the scene by LA County Fire and airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time, but it appears that the victim was possibly specifically targeted and at this point detectives do not believe that it was a random act. PPD Detectives are actively working the case and have been since it occurred. Further press releases/updates will be sent out should any pertinent information be developed.
