On October 7, 2014 at 12:36 pm the Pomona PD Vice Unit received information that John Ray Burns was wanted for violating the terms of his parole and was considered a Parolee at Large. He was located driving a 2013 Camaro in the area of Park Ave and Commercial St. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Burns did not stop and fled from the officers at a high rate of speed.
Burns lost control of his vehicle at Park Ave and Lexington Ave and collided with several parked cars and caused injuries to himself and his passenger Pittman. Burns and Pittman both ran from the vehicle to avoid arrest.
Pittman was quickly apprehended and Burns was located a few blocks away after he forced his way into an occupied home and hid in a closet until he was located by a Police K-9. Due to injuries sustained in the traffic collision, both were treated for their injuries at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and were later booked at the Pomona City Jail.
