15TH ANNUAL PAL GOLF TOURNAMENT (Gary Yates Memorial)
Every year golfers come from near and far because the word is out -- the PAL Golf Tournament is just too much fun!

This year the tournament was held at Poplar Creek Golf Course on Friday, September 26. Over 125 golfers and guests first enjoyed a BBQ lunch prepared by Outback Steakhouse of San Mateo. The course included two drink and two food holes as well as two Hole-In-One contests with a Porsche Boxster (provided by Rector Motor Car Company of Burlingame) and a 2015 Subaru Outback Limited (provided by Putnam Subaru of Burlingame).

After the tournament, a full buffet dinner from the Poplar Creek Grill served as the backdrop for the evening’s host, KNBR’s “Hooked on Golf” Mitch Juricich to announce winners of 15 raffle prizes, including foursomes of golf at venues throughout the Bay Area, South Lake Tahoe and Oahu, as well as auction packages with SF Giants playoff tickets and SF 49ers tickets. Rounding out the evening was Mitch Juricich’s bingo card raffle for an overnight trip and golf at the Pebble Beach Resorts, donated by Recology of San Mateo County, and PAL’s traditional “Mystery Box” which included cash and hi-tech items.

Mitch, who never ceases to amaze and never fails to entertain, kept the evening alive and full of laughter. In addition, City of San Mateo Mayor Robert Ross delivered a touching tribute to former San Mateo Councilman and Mayor Gary Yates, to whom the tournament is dedicated. Additionally, through a new partnership with NFL Alumni of Northern California, 49er alums Dana Stubblefield, Alan Kennedy and PAL Board member Dennis Brown spent the day with the golfers and their guests. All funds raised support programs run by the Police Activities League for local youth and their families.

PAL particularly wishes to thank our tournament sponsors, led by Zuora, our banner sponsor, as well as Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo Bank, Peninsula Health Care District, Recology of San Mateo County, P G & E and Mills-Peninsula Health Services; donors Putnam Subaru, NFL Alumni of Northern California, Rector Motor Car Company, Outback Steakhouse and Whole Foods Market. We also wish to thank our host Mitch Juricich, the PAL Golf Committee, our many volunteers, our many hole, cart, green and tee sign sponsors and dozens of local businesses who donated items for our raffle and auction.
