THE MISSING WHEELCHAIR HAS BEEN LOCATED AND RETURNED THANKS TO A TIP FROM AN ALERT CITIZEN. MAN ARRESTED.

On 10/08/14 at about 1730 hours, Chula Vista Property Crimes Detectives located the missing wheelchair only hours after alerting the public via social media and traditional media releases. Detectives received a tip from a citizen who had seen a similar chair for sale on the internet. Detectives located the sale advertisement and made arrangements to purchase the chair for $1200. Officers met with the person who posted the ad, who said he was selling it for a friend named "Joe Joe". He called his friend who rode the chair from his home, which was only blocks from where the chair was originally stolen. The suspect in the chair was arrested for the theft after it was determined that he never intended to return it. He was the same suspect the victim said took the chair originally. The suspect, 26 year old Joseph Marshall, was arrested for grand theft and possession of methamphetamine.
The chair was immediately returned to its owner who was grateful for the efforts of the thoughtful and alert citizen.
