Police Seek the Public's Help in Locating a Missing Wheelchair

The chair owner, Mr. Richard Young, suffers from cerebral palsy and is confined to a motorized wheelchair. On 09/07/2014 between 0200 and 0400 hours, Young was travelling home in the area of 3rd Ave and Oxford Street when he had a seizure. A passerby, who identified himself only as, "Joe," called 9-1-1 and offered to take care of Richard Young's motorized wheelchair for him when he was transported to the hospital. "Joe" told Young he lived nearby and would return the wheelchair to him. Young was subsequently treated and released from the hospital, but has had no contact from "Joe," and is unable to replace his wheelchair, valued at $10,000. Property Crimes Detectives from the Chula Vista Police Department are asking for assistance in identifying "Joe" and recovering Young's wheelchair. Young was only able to describe "Joe," as an adult Hispanic male, 5'05" tall. The wheelchair was a grey Tacha Sahara motorized wheelchair with an unknown serial number, similar to the one pictured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Scott Schneider with the Chula Vista Police
