OSBI Agents Investigate McIntosh Co. Deputy-Involved Shooting

The McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office has requested OSBI agents investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 11:30 Saturday night. A deputy responded to a domestic call at a trailer park one mile east of U.S. Highway 69 on Texana Road. The domestic call was a result of an argument between a man and his son who lived at the park. When the deputy arrived about 11 o’clock, the son had left the area. While speaking with the father, the deputy heard a gunshot nearby. The deputy walked to the area where the shot was fired and found several people around a pit fire. One of the people sitting near the fire shined a light at the deputy. The deputy ordered the light to be turned off. At that point, 33-year-old Christopher Ashley Hooper, who resided at the trailer park, stood and aimed a rifle at the deputy. The deputy fired his weapon at Hooper striking him one time in the chest. Hooper was flown to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The deputy is on routine paid administrative leave while OSBI investigates the shooting. The McIntosh County District Attorney will determine whether the shooting was justified.
