On October 4, 2014 at 7:13 A.M., officers from the Norton Shores Police Department were dispatched to the JP Market, 818 E. Broadway Ave, Norton Shores in reference to a robbery. The suspect entered the store with a knife in his hand and immediately demanded money from the 58 yr old male owner of the store. The suspect then jumped up on the counter and grabbed money then ran out the door. The store owner was not injured during the robbery.

The suspect then ran from the building to the North where Deputy Ottinger from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office assisted with his K-9. The suspect was tracked to a location where bicycle tracks were found.

Officers were able to identify the suspect after interviewing several witnesses in the area.
At approximately 5:30 P.M. Officers from the Norton Shores Police Department and the Muskegon Police Department located the suspect in the parking lot of the Getty Street Grill. The suspect was then taken into custody after a short foot chase.

The suspect is a 34 yr old male who lists his addresses as the City of Muskegon and Muskegon Hts. His name is being withheld until arraignment. He has been lodged in the Muskegon County jail and charged with Armed Robbery. It does not appear that this suspect was involved in other Armed Robberies in the area.
