City Assesses Damage After Powerful Storm

CITY OF ARLINGTON CREWS ASSESSING DAMAGE AFTER POWERFUL STORM

With many residents cleaning up yards and driveways, City of Arlington crews are out assessing the full extent of the damage caused by Thursday’s powerful storm.

As of 2 p.m., Oncor is reporting 28,872 people are still without power. Crews are working hard to restore power as soon as possible.

Tree damage is citywide with a number of limbs down in yards, parks and in the streets. When preparing debris for removal, residents should cut them into four-foot pieces and move to the curb. Residents are asked not to pile tree limbs on the sidewalk or in the streets.

If your fence has been damaged, exposing your pool, please call the Action Center at 817-459-6777 for temporary fencing.

The City of Arlington’s Emergency Operation Center was activated after the storm, and officials have identified the following key objectives:

• Damage assessment: Crews are out assessing damage throughout the city to determine resource allocation.
• Debris removal: Republic Services and city crews are working together to remove debris left curbside. Residents also can take storm debris (tree limbs and fence panels) to the Arlington Landfill through October 11.
• Power restoration: Oncor crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.
• Traffic: Several intersections without power are being manned by Arlington police.
