FEMA to continue offering assistance at Ford Community & Performing Arts Center through Tuesday, Oct. 7

Representatives will offer in-person help with federal disaster assistance claims; no appointment is needed

DEARBORN, Mich. – Due to high demand, FEMA will continue to offer assistance to victims of the Aug. 11 flood with filing claims for federal assistance at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. In addition to a help session offered on Friday, Oct. 3, representatives will also be on hand on Saturday, Oct. 4, as well as Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 6 and 7.

They will be in the Hubbard Ballroom inside The Center from 9 to 4 p.m. each day. Note that they are not operating on Sunday, Oct. 5. Residents planning on filing a claim should bring their Social Security number, insurance information, damage information, household financial information, and contact information.

Assistance is offered on a walk-in basis. Residents do not need to make an appointment.

For more information, please call FEMA at its toll free number: 800-621-3362.

The city has no authority to determine if residents qualify for FEMA assistance.

Among the federal assistance that may be available to qualified property owners is grants for home repairs not covered by insurance to make the home safe, sanitary and functional; low-interest loans to cover residential losses not fully compensated by insurance, and other relief programs, according to FEMA.

Residents have until Nov. 24, 2014 to file claims. They can also be filed by registering with FEMA at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
