9/25/14, press release - Single Vehicle/Pedestrian Crash with Injuries 10/3/2014 UPDATE
October 3, 2014 UPDATE:
On September 25, 2014 at approximately 2:40pm, the Burlington Police Department and Burlington Fire & Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian. The incident occurred in the area of Dealer.com in the area of a pedestrian crosswalk. John Gavin of Grand Isle County was treated at the scene and remains hospitalized recovering from his injuries, which are not life-threatening; his family has asked for privacy during his recovery. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kenneth P. Wrisley, 54 year male from Colchester, Vermont.
Investigation has determined that Wrisley failed to yield to Gavin, who was crossing within the marked crosswalk. Wrisley was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on October 16, 2014 at 8:30am to answer to a charge of Negligent Operation, a crime punishable by imprisonment for not more than one year or fines of not more than $ 1,000.00, or both. Wrisley was also issued a civil ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

On September 25, 2014 at approximately 2:40pm, the Burlington Police Department and Burlington Fire & Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian. The incident occurred in the area of Dealer.com located at 345 Pine Street in the area of a pedestrian crosswalk.
A 47 year old male pedestrian from Grand Isle County received on scene treatment from Burlington Fire & Rescue and would be transported to the Fletcher Allen Health Center for further treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kenneth P. Wrisley, 54 year male from Colchester, Vermont.
The initial incident required a temporary closure of Pine Street to allow for treatment of the pedestrian and the safety of other first responders who were on scene in the roadway. A preliminary investigation indicates that no other vehicles were involved. There are no initial indications that alcohol, drugs or a mobile phone were a factor in the crash. More details will be released pending an investigation which is being conducted by the Burlington Police Department at this time.

September 26, 2014 UPDATE:
The Burlington Police are able to advise that the male pedestrian involved in this incident is 47 yo Grand Isle County resident John Gavin.
Mr. Gavin is still currently at the Fletcher Allen Health Center being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
