Missing Boy in Imperial Beach Found Safe

A missing nine-year-old boy from Imperial Beach has been found safe. Security personnel at Naval Base Coronado called the Sheriff’s Department just before 10:00 p.m. They informed deputies Adrian Acosta approached guards at the gate of the military base. Acosta rode his bicycle from home to Naval Base Coronado.

Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was activated to search for Acosta after her ran away from home in the 1400 block of Grove Avenue just before 7:00 p.m. Acosta was upset about doing his homework.

We thank the public for looking out for Acosta, as well as our Search and Rescue volunteers. The Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) is an all-volunteer unit. Together, they perform wilderness and urban rescues, as well as search for missing and at-risk persons. Teams are available 24 hours a day to respond to local, state and federal agency requests.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Sheriff’s Search and Rescue has been activated for a nine-year-old boy who ran away from home in Imperial Beach. Be on the lookout for Adrian Acosta. He is 4’8” tall, has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Acosta’s mother called the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation just before 7:00 p.m. when she discovered her son was missing from his bedroom. Earlier in the evening, the boy and the mother had a disagreement about Acosta doing his homework. When the mother woke up from her nap, she discovered the boy missing from their home in the 1400 block of Grove Avenue. A teacher of Acosta last saw the boy in the 800 block of Seacoast Drive talking to a homeless person between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Sheriff’s ASTREA is also overhead helping with the search. Expect increased law enforcement activity around Central Elementary School at 1290 Ebony Avenue where the command post is located. Please avoid the area if you can.
