Marion man mistakenly sets up drug deal with detective; charged with felony possession of methamphetamine 
Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Wayne Matthew Elliott, 40, of Mudcut Road in Marion, with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Elliott was also served with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.
On Friday, Sept. 26, Elliott mistakenly texted Taylor, who heads up the Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit, and said he was looking to sell one-half gram of meth.
Taylor set up a time to meet Elliott, who allegedly had a small amount of meth and drug paraphernalia on him at the time and was taken into custody.
