Former PTO Treasurer Arrested for Felony Theft

Randolph County – An investigation that began in April 2013 has resulted in the arrest of the former Monroe Township PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) Treasurer for One Count of Class “D” Felony Theft. State Police investigators were contacted by members of the PTO after they discovered multiple discrepancies in their account and a misappropriation of approximately $18,000.

State Police Detective Scott Jarvis began the investigation which included the review of the PTO financial records from September of 2011 to April of 2013. After the investigation and record review it was determined that Crystal Shellabarger had made unauthorized purchases for personal use using PTO funds.

The case was turned over to Randolph Prosecutor David Daly, and after his review a Felony warrant was issued for the arrest of Crystal Shellabarger, age 34, of Farmland. Shellabarger was arrested last evening on the warrant and lodged in the Randolph County Jail.
