‘Top Ten’ Issues to be Discussed

The annual Bus and Bike Update for the City of Sausalito has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the City Hall City Council Chambers. The forum can be viewed live via the City of Sausalito website, or see below for dates and times for Marin TV broadcasts.

The Sausalito Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Commission, created by the City Council last year, is hosting this forum which will include presentations by commissioner members as well as city staff. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A period including the opportunity for broadcast viewers to pose questions. Those participating will hear information regarding:

1. What is the latest information regarding tour buses in Sausalito and what is the plan going forward?
2. How many bikes come to Sausalito? What types? And when?
3. What are the legal options to reduce bike traffic in Sausalito?
4. What are the laws surrounding bike riding on streets and sidewalks in Sausalito?
5. What is the status and plan for dealing with bike parking in Sausalito?
6. What is happening with bike parking in Sausalito and how does this impact bike traffic and city revenues?
7. What is the cost to Sausalito to manage bike visitors including police, ferry landing, and booth staff? And what does the average bike renter spend in Sausalito? How does this impact city financials?
8. What do citizens and merchants think about bike visitors (2014 survey results)?
9. What does the new California Three-Feet for Safety law mean for bikes and cars? And how fast are those recreational (spandex) bikers going? What can be done about it?
10. Is there a long-term plan to address bike traffic in Sausalito? If so, what is it?
