Mikol Wayne Stewart, 37 years old of Santa Rosa, was discovered unresponsive in his cell at approximately 10:20 Sunday morning. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. He was and pronounced dead by medical personnel at 10:35AM.
Stewart was being held without bail pending court hearings. He was arrested on September 11, 2014 by Petaluma Police Department for the charges of Murder, Burglary and Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
An investigation into the jail incident was conducted by Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Investigation Unit. The autopsy was conducted and cause of death with consistent with suicide by hanging.
