APD arrest 2 men in two different incdents involving stolen automobiles and possession of identifying information.
On Saturday September 27th at 11:30pm, an APD field officer attempted to stop a Jeep Wrangler for a traffic violation near the area of SW 6th and Prospect. The driver of the Jeep refused to pull over and attempted to elude the officer with his erratic driving then eventually getting out of the Jeep and running on foot. Several field officers surrounded the area and later located the subject hiding underneath a vehicle that was parked in the alley of the 500 block of S Prospect. The male subject was taken into custody and placed in the back seat of a patrol car. Subsequent investigation reveled the Jeep Wrangler was reported stolen earlier this month. The driver was also found to be in possession of numerous identifiers and narcotic paraphernalia. The driver is identified as Grant Tyler Curtis W/M 22. Curtis was arrested and booked into Potter County Correction Center on charges of Fraud/Poss of Identifying Information more than 10 items less than 50; UUMV (Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle); Evading Arrest/Detention; Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia; and one local municipal warrant for Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. The Jeep Wrangler was impounded until the owner could be located.
On Sunday September 28th at approximately 3:48am, APD officers conducted a stop on a vehicle after observing a traffic violation. The vehicle was a Chevy Malibu with a temporary buyers tag on it. Officers approached the vehicle to identify the occupants. The driver and male passenger were removed from the vehicle for further investigation. During the investigation officers found the vehicle was reported stolen on September 22nd. The driver was also found to be in possession of numerous identifiers belonging to other people. Officers found 13 different identifiers belonging to 9 different people, some of which had already made police reports of thefts/burglaries in which their identifiers were stolen. The driver also was in possession of narcotic paraphernalia and had 6 outstanding local warrants. Officers developed additional information that there was possibly another stolen vehicle in the 5600 block of Amarillo Blvd West. Upon their arrival to this location officers located a stolen 2002 BMW that was stolen out of Odessa Texas. Both vehicle were impounded and will be later released to their owners. The Driver is identified as Jesse David Freeman W/M 48. Freeman was booked into Potter County Correction Center on charges of Fraud/Poss of Identifying Information more than 10 items less than 50; UUMV (Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle); Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia; and 6 local municipal warrants. The passenger in the Malibu was released.
