Free Disposal and National Prescription Take-Back Day on 9/27

So you've cleaned out the garage and are not sure what to do with the miscellaneous stuff that you know should not go in the trash. What do you do with the broken TV, dried up paint, old tires or expired medicine? Bring it to the free disposal and national prescription take-back day!

The event will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Castle Park High School, located at 1395 Hilltop Drive. The collection will be held in the parking lot of the school (enter off of East Rienstra Street).

Items eligible for collection include antifreeze, batteries, oil, paint, electronics, fluorescent lights/tubes, unwanted tires, and expired/unused prescription medicine (no questions asked). Items that will not be accepted are gasoline, diesel, gas tanks, pesticides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, thinners, degreasers, and sharps.
Residents can also dispose up to nine passenger and light-duty tires per person including wheel-mounted tires. Large vehicle tires such as tractor and semi-truck, and business waste tires will not be accepted.
